The changing face of our changing rooms

The squash club recently received a £50,000 lottery grant from Sport England to update and refurbish the changing rooms. Thanks to the time and dedication of several members of the club, the new changing room were completed it September 2014. They look great, with modern and clean designs that provide a pleasant place to shower and change after a tough game

Men’s first team do it again

Well done to the men’s first team who have won a second successive league one title, romping home against main rivals Bannatynes, with a game to spare!

The boys have played excellent squash throughout the season, and this convincing win is testament to the time and efforts spent on the squash court.

Let’s see if they can make it a hatrick this season. The boys play their home matches on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm, so come down to support them and see some of the best squash in the area, you might even pick up some tips!

Not to be outdone, the men’s second team also won promotion to the 2nd division, making it another successful season for the club

Celebrating success at the Durham and Cleveland awards

It’s been another great season for the club, so it’s no surprise that it was another great night at the annual county awards presentation.

With the men’s first team collecting the league one title, the men’s second team taking the third division, the ladies friendly team winning the friendly league and the U15s victorious in their league it really was a night to remember.

As well as team successes, we also had a number of individual awards. Andy Cross was named division 1 Player of the Year, his son Ben was named Division 3 Player of the Year AND Junior of the Year (he’ll surely be catching his Dad up soon?) PLUS, Yarm Legend and honorary member, Yawar Abbas was named Player of the Year for his contribution to Durham and Cleveland squash.

What a night!
